Reflection of Yourself
Saturday, April 30th, 2011
A home is a mirror image of the owner’s personality. The person creates his home according to his needs and style. No two houses are alike even with the same construction.
Each individual has a different perception of what a home should be. Basing on this perception, he creates the interior and exterior designs of his house. A great part in his style will include the different and coordinated colors of the house, and the furniture. These paintings and furniture will speak for his taste, needs and budget. Ottoman benches fit all his criteria. He can toy around with different ideas, but it will still be based on what he feels. After all the home is where he will seek refuge when the world outside threatens his strength to cope up with the challenges in life. Therefore, he makes his home as safe and as comfortable as possible.
The physical character of your whole house embodies your complete personality.

How to Maintain Your Awning Canopy
Tuesday, April 19th, 2011
Getting an awning is sure a nice way to protect yourself from the excessive heat of the sun. It is one of those easy and fast ways to get shade. Sure you can plant some trees and shrubs but it will be a very long time before you enjoy their shade that is why it is very cool to get an awning. It is instant shade and shelter.
But you must know that an awning canopy needs your attention too as much as it takes care of your needs. You need to schedule some time to take care of your awning and make sure that there are no dirt and grime that are causing your awning damage. You want to regularly sweep and wash your awning. This does not have to be done every day but it helps to do it every once in a while to maintain the health of your tool.

My New Taste
Saturday, April 9th, 2011
I’m really looking forward to purchasing some New England Lifestyle furnitures because they just appeal to me so much. I’ve been looking at them for a while and finally decided to make my purchase tomorrow, after I consult Tom tonight about what types of furniture we will need. But honestly, I really want to replace all of my furnitures because the New England Lifestyle ones offer a more sleek and clean look than the stuff that we have now. I guess I will try to sell all the old stuff first except for the necessities. Then I will probably get the money I earned to help with purchasing the new furniture. I love getting new furniture because it feels like a fresh start. With these new ones, it really feels like a very fresh start because of they way they look. My main color will probably be white because that is the main color of these furnitures.

Gingham Tablecloth is the Perfect Final Touch to Our Kitchen
Tuesday, April 5th, 2011
Having finally laid the table with some lovely gingham tablecloth, I feel now that the kitchen has been completed. The laying of the table was more ceremonious than anything – a bit like smashing a champagne bottle against a boat when it launches for the first time. We’d spent months working on our kitchen – the floor, the surfaces, the spaces for all the white goods, the double-glazing, curtains, wallpaper, fabric noticeboards, oven, IKEA wooden table and chairs. Now it’s complete I feel in the mood to sharpen my cooking skills. During the time we worked on the kitchen, we had nowhere to cook so we always ate out at local restaurants or bought takeaways (the latter being the most common way we fed outselves) – after a while you start to feel really unhealthy! You just can’t beat home cooking for health as you get to control how much oil and salts are put into each dish. So from now on, healthy eating!

Cupboards for the Kitchen
Friday, April 1st, 2011
Cupboards are the main type of furniture found in kitchens. Just like cupboards in other parts of the home such as the bedroom, kitchen cupboards provide space to store items. While bedroom cupboards are filled with clothing, kitchen cupboard are used to primarily to store food, utensils and small appliances used for cooking.
In most kitchens, the cupboards rest beneath solid wood worktops. They can also be hinged to the walls or act as stand alone units. Cupboards for the kitchen are available in numerous materials but wood, in the form of plywood or chip wood is by far the most common. The design of cupboards and the sizes vary from kitchen to kitchen and is perhaps the most noticeable thing when one enters a kitchen.
Kitchen cupboards have doors within which there are drawers and shelves to stock items that are to be used in the kitchen. As kitchens become more and more sophisticated, the designs are becoming more grand, better to look at and offering a greater practicality.
Kitchen cupboards are available at relatively low prices from stores such as Ikea but better quality and more intricate designs are readily available too.

Red and Black Comforter Set
Thursday, March 24th, 2011
My husband and I love red and black together. Our room is our “special sanctuary” as it is for many couples. We have been looking for queen size comforter sets for a little while now but I never took him with me. So I told him one day whether he liked it or not we were going together. He agreed to come and we went to my favorite home decor store. I had passed by this one red and black set a couple of times but never said anything to him because I didn’t think he’d like it. When he passed by he area it was in he sopped and said, “Now I LIKE that!” while pointing to the red and black one. I checked to make sure he was talking about the same one and sure enough he was. I was so excited because I loved it and it came with the decorative pillows too. He and I agreed that it was definitely what we wanted and we got the curtains to match. I also bought really nice red and black night stand lamps to match. Our room is the best room in the whole house!

Picking the Best Solar Window Shades
Wednesday, December 29th, 2010
When investing in home improvements for a greener, cleaner life, it is of the utmost importance to know what may be expected to make wise investment choices. The hard facts about solar panels highlight the practicality and usefulness of solar window blinds as a source of green energy. The numbers speak for themselves. There are three kinds of solar cells, and the polycrystalline kind are the most affordable. A six V, sixteen mA solar cell covers 1.5 square inches of surface area, and each slat on a set of standard household blinds has twenty eight square inches. Eighteen solar cells of this variety fit on one slat, providing a maximum of 108 V, 288 mA per slat. For a standard 3.5 foot window, that’s a 4.5 kilovolt, 12 amp maximum between slats exposed to sunlight. This technology provides more than enough power to charge small devices such as cellular phones, as well as power small fans or other such appliances. This comes from hard science, and it is based upon the weakest, least efficient solar cells on the market. Higher-quality cells have the potential to provide even more power! The key in choosing which type to buy is in the purpose and power rating. Depending on the configuration of the product, the actual output of solar window blinds may vary. A product with a lower rating may perform more reliably while a product rated at the maximum is less reliable and more versatile. When shopping, keep this balance in mind and the product will be sure to cut energy costs while creating a high-tech, futuristic look.

Making Your Own Room Dividers is Effortless
Sunday, December 12th, 2010
In the event you have a room that you want to separate into distinct areas, you can find other methods to accomplish this besides putting up a wall. Building walls is messy, expensive, and extremely time-consuming. It’s also irreversible. You can make your own 4 panel room divider at a fraction of the price of building a wall. Even if you’re not the most crafty person, you are able to still do this in under an hour. It’s basically a matter of gathering the supplies and putting them all together. It’s quite easy to make your own partition.
There are so lots of benefits to utilizing partitions to divide up a space. One wonderful reason to use them is mainly because they are flexible. You are able to open and close them at will in just a matter of seconds. You are able to remove them entirely if your lifestyle changes. They also make the room look more lived in and decorated. One of the easiest ways to make your own divider that adds a soft decorative feel is to make curtain room dividers.
One of the best things about making your own room dividers and screens at property is that you don’t need plenty of supplies. You may acquire a curtain rod that’s the same length as your wall or you may just use a tension-mounted shower curtain rod. You can decorate the rod or purchase a fun color when you wish to add some pizazz to the room. Acquire some hooks also. Buy a couple of boxes of curtain hooks if your room is very long, otherwise 1 or two really should suffice. Finally and most importantly you’ll need some fabric. Several persons use drapes for this purpose mainly because they are generally the ideal height and supply the heaviness necessary to produce privacy.
First you’ll want to begin with the appropriate length of fabric. You may want to measure the space in question and then measure an equal length of fabric. It’s a great idea to cut your fabric slightly larger than the opening in question so that when the curtain is closed, there won’t be a gap where light can escape or people today can peek via. Then you must make some holes in the top of the fabric equal distances apart. Several inches is generally about correct but be sure you’ve enough curtain hooks just before deciding on the interval to use. Place the curtain hooks on the rod and then attach the fabric to the hooks. Finally, hang the rod up between the walls and check to make certain it’s sturdy.
Putting up your own room divider panels seriously is really a straightforward task. Of course you’ll be able to constantly make it much more complex if you’re the artsy type or when you have additional time or cash.

Contemporary Treatments: Draw Draperies
Saturday, December 4th, 2010
Draw draperies, also known as curtains, are one of the most popular types of window treatments available. For the most part draw drapes can be put into two distinct categories, one way draw drapes and two way, or split in the middle, draw drapes. While both types of drapes look identical and for the most part serve the same function the distinction can be found in how the two types of drapes operate. As the name suggests, one way draw draperies can either be drawn to the left or the right but not both on the same time. On the other hand two way draw are typically two separate but identical pieces of fabric than can be drawn in both directions. Because of their increased usability and overall better look two way draw drapes tend to be the most popular of the two types of drapes and are a great choice if you are looking for a new contemporary window treatment for your home.

Remodeling an Edinburgh Bathroom
Wednesday, November 24th, 2010
Unique design and beautiful decor are hallmark features of Edinburgh bathrooms. Truly lovely components should be chosen if one is going to create an appealing and tasteful bathroom area. Sharp lines and muted colors can make a peaceful haven away from the stresses of the world, and provide a peaceful sanctuary where one can indulge in a bubble bath, a pedicure or facial, and let the pressure of the day fade away. Fashionable Edinburgh bathrooms can create a modern aura yet still hold timeless appeal for both the homeowner and his or her guests.
Bathing areas are a part of one’s home for which special care should be taken during remodeling projects. Whether the goal is personal comfort, or to increase the home’s overall value, the same principles apply. For instance, to make a small bathroom appear larger in size, the strategic use of mirrors can go a long way to accomplish this. Simple, yet elegant faucets and other fixtures, can add a stylish flair without compromising the traditional appearance of the decor.
Neutral color combinations are a good choice for a bathroom, as they can promote a restful atmosphere, however, some may choose to try out some brighter colors or designs. A bright yellow sink, or dark red bathtub can make an eye-catching statement. Tile work with intricate designs can also do much to improve the look of a bathroom, and these are available in a wide variety of patterns and styles. In addition, interesting accent lighting in a variety of colors can also add a romantic flair to one’s bathroom.
An important consideration when one is remodeling his or her bathroom is the elimination of clutter. Storage shelves and hampers can assist with this endeavor, and it is a nice idea to choose these items not only for their functional use, but also for decorative qualities. Simple baskets and decorative shelves work well in this regard, as do designer hampers or colorful storage bins. These items can sometimes be located on the internet for a reasonable price, and one may choose to look there, as well as local retail stores. No matter what ones decorative objections are for his or her bathroom, the best way to achieve them, is through the use of a professional decorator.

Now or Later
Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
It’s that time of year again; the holidays are right around the corner. I personally have been trying to figure out what I can get my children, before they slap me with their Christmas lists. I know little things I can get my daughter, but my son is a whole different situation. He is very simple to please and I found some sheets the other day I thought would express his personality. Then again, being a child bedding may not be something he wants to get on Christmas morning. I may just go ahead and give them to him before Christmas. I am sure he will like them either way. I just need to find some other random things to get him before his list is completed. I know he wants lots of remote control vehicles and such. He also has likes anything that he sees on TV infomercials. So, he may have an “As seen on TV” Christmas.

Bay Window Curtain Treatments That You Should Consider
Wednesday, November 10th, 2010
When deciding for bay window treatments, it is important to keep a few key design elements in mind. These will help you apply the appropriate treatment for your bay windows and thus, end up looking great. First, take note that each window should be balanced. To achieve this you can use similar shades, curtains or valances in the same color or pattern for each window treatment. However, if you want to add romance to a bedroom or living room where you have bay windows, try to use sheer curtains. To enhance your bay windows, gather each set of curtains at different intervals. You can also purchase curtain rods that add decoration to your room. Meanwhile, sheer curtains can provide privacy. However, do not block the sun for a light and airy feeling. Moreover, each curtain rod must be in shorter length in order to accommodate your bay windows while having enough room to hang your curtain.
