Parents want their children to learn the value of money and for this reason they give them chores to do at home for which they pay them an allowance. In this way, the kids earn money for extra things they want to buy and can save up the money they earn to make large purchases. Experts will tell you that when children work for the money and then buy something themselves, they appreciate it much more than if they just asked for the money and got it.

Some of the work at home jobs that even little kids can do include making sure their room is clean, taking the dishes off the table and putting them in the dishwasher and putting their dirty clothes in the laundry hamper. Taking care of their toys and making sure that they put them away when they are finished is not only a job they can do but it teaches them responsibility at the same time.

For the first 13 years of my career I owned my own hardwood floor installation and refinishing business. I loved doing that kind of work. It is very rewarding to take an ugly wood floor and restore it like new again and I took great pride in my work. The nice thing about that type of business is that all the tools fit inside of a truck so I was able to work from home. I would do the work during the day and then give estimates at night. Well after 13 years I am sad to say I had to sell my company as I developed asthma. I now have a job as a software engineer but make much less than I used to.
